How to Start a New Chapter
In order to establish a chapter of Alpha Pi Sigma on your campus you must first complete the following:
- Start an interest group
- Each interested lady must submit an application
- Choose a group name
- Get an advisor who is a faculty/staff member on campus
(An advisor is required so that the group may have someone who is familiar with the campus and its resources)
- Obtain on-campus status as an organization (Please check with your local university on the procedures that are required to do so)
- Design a t-shirt or sweatshirt; all shirts must be identical, including the same color and design for all interest group members
- Maintain a scrapbook of all activities.
- Set-up an Executive Board (ie: President, Secretary, etc.)
- Hold meetings following an agenda and take minutes
- Adopt a community project in relation to the Latino community
- Organize fund-raisers on or off-campus (Proceeds may be used to pay for t-shirts, material for scrap book, film developing, flyers, etc).
- Open a non-profit checking account. Many banks will not charge a monthly fee because the organization is not for profit.
*After all these steps have been accomplished, the Alpha Pi Sigma National Board of Directors will meet with the ladies of the interest group and decide if the interest group has met all the requirements to begin the process of pledging.
